From the publisher
It features a faceted shape. Lapis lazuli is a deep-blue rock made mostly of lazurite, often flecked with golden pyrite, used as a pigment and gem since antiquity. A pendulum is used for dowsing: you hold it still by its chain, ask a yes-or-no question, and watch how it swings.
